Fatal Fire in Caribou Being Investigated by the Maine Fire Marshal's Office
A fatal fire at 32 Hillcrest Avenue in Caribou late Saturday night is being investigated by the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office.
The Caribou Fire Department was notified of the fire at 10:30 p.m., and when firefighters entered the Hillcrest Avenue home, they discovered the body of a deceased individual inside the residence.
The remains were transported to the Maine Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for identification and further examination.
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Shannon Moss, the deceased individual is believed to be Tony Jackson, 49. The Maine Medical Examiner will confirm identification.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
