Tanker Truck Crashes on I-95 in Old Town, Maine Friday Afternoon
Maine State Police are investigating after a tanker truck carrying water overturned on I-95 in Old Town on Friday, June 27, 2025. The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m. in the median near mile marker 198.
The tanker truck driver, Robert Pierce, 58, of Westbrook, was ejected from the truck during the crash. Maine State Police arrived on the scene quickly and provided medical aid. Old Town Fire and Rescue transported Pierce to Eastern Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two lanes of traffic were closed, and vehicles were moving through the area using the breakdown lane while crews continued working at the scene. Bouchard’s Towing and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection were also assisting the Maine State Police.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing, but speed does appear to be a factor in the crash.
